Dr. António Carracho's path is directly linked to the evolution of contemporary Dentistry in Portugal.
He has dedicated his career to the areas of Fixed Prosthodontics, Occlusion, and Implantology, having placed the first dental implants in 1984. Work later presented at ASI - Association Stomatologic Internacional, Switzerland, in 1985.
During the ’80s, he was one of the first Portuguese Dentists to join an American University - University of Missouri Kansas City, USA - where he completed full-time training and a Master of Science, under the guidance of one of the pioneers in dental adhesion worldwide. During this period, he developed and published relevant research in the area of adhesives to the dental structure by the University of Missouri Kansas City, USA.
When he returned to Portugal, Dr. Carracho dedicated part of his professional activity to teaching at the University of Lisbon - Faculty of Dental Medicine, between 1981 and 2003. During this period, he shared his knowledge, presenting numerous lectures in the area of Fixed Prosthesis on Teeth and Implants, contributing to the introduction of contemporary Dentistry and new treatment concepts in Portugal.
Dr. Carracho gave a particular impulse to the introduction of Ceramic Veneers and Adhesive Technique in Portugal. He presented these techniques for the first time, at the University of Lisbon in 1991 and later on with a live case at the Congress of APMD - Portuguese Dental Medicine Association in 1993, in Lisbon. Today, Dr. Carracho dedicates his experience and expertise of 40 years to private clinical practice, treating cases of Complex Oral Rehabilitation. His practice is focused in the areas of Dental Implantology, Bone Regeneration, Fixed Prosthesis, and Occlusion. He always maintains a strong philosophy of proximity and monitoring of their patients at all stages of treatment.
